Flominda Mercer Gabriel
October 1, 1953 - April 30, 2021

Flominda Mercer Gabriel Flominda Mercer Gabriel was born on October 1, 1953 in Austin, Texas to Jesse Mercer and Annie Coates Mercer.

She attended schools in the Austin Independent School District and graduated from Reagan High School. Flominda furthered her education at Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, where she was a founder of the Theta Delta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Later, she transferred to Texas Southern University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

She was a member of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Flominda was a longtime member of Ebenezer Third Baptist Church and a member of the Woman’s Missionary Union – Mission 1, Circle 2.

On January 8, 1977, Flominda married Leonard Gabriel to which the union was blessed with a daughter, Janisha Renee Gabriel. Flominda was a loving wife and devoted mother. She was a tremendous supporter of her family and was always there when the family needed comforting and guidance. She was a wonderful friend and loved her friends unconditionally. As a friend, Flominda was a gift from God.

Flominda was employed at 3M Corporation in the Human Resources Department. After several years at 3M, she was later employed at MGT of America.

Flominda was a gifted artist who created beautiful abstract pictures. She had an eye for unique and eclectic designs for interior decoration and yard art. She was a talented chef who started a catering business, “Go with the Flow.”

Preceding her in death were her parents, Jesse and Annie Mercer; brother, Oswald Mercer; sister-in-law, Cheryl; and beloved, precious daughter, Janisha Renee Gabriel.

Flominda leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Leonard Gabriel; a host of family members, relatives, friends, neighbors; and her dog, Lola.
