Toni Mays Turnipseed
July 31, 1953 - August 7, 2022
Toni Mays Turnipseed departed this earth on August 7th. She was born in Wichita, Kansas to Bob and Marjorie Mays, though her family moved to Austin two years later, where she lived the rest of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Philip), and brother (Jeffrey Mays).
In her lifetime, Toni held many diverse jobs. She was a school bus driver, a pastry chef, a drafter, a teacher’s aide, an executive assistant, and she worked for many years in an administrative role at the Texas Department of State Health Services. Most of all, she devoted much of her life and energy into raising her two sons.
Toni is survived by her sons, Adam Turnipseed of Smithville, and Brent Turnipseed of Austin. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Eve and Nicholas Turnipseed of Austin, Gehrig and Trinity Turnipseed of Smithville, and Taylor Ebadat of Houston.
Toni’s family has chosen to mourn their loss privately but wish to thank friends and family for their cards, prayers, and well wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org/donate).
